Since 1992, the memorial has featured a permanent exhibition by the Kassel-based artist Stephan von Borstel which is characterized by a combination of artistic design and historical representation. The four exhibition rooms focus on themes such as the continuities of exclusion, persecution during the Nazi period and remembrance of the victims. When designing the exhibition, Stephan von Borstel used various metals (lead, iron, zinc, copper) to express, for example, isolation, cold or also warmth. Sculptures and installations that evoke thoughts and associations are found in rooms of various colours.
