Breitenau Memorial is located in Guxhagen, 15 km south of Kassel, right next to Autobahn A7 (Fulda - Kassel) near the exit Guxhagen. The memorial was established in the former tithe barn of the monastery on the site of a Vitos Kurhessen facility for people with chronic mental illness. Guxhagen is also easily accessible by train. Trains run approximately every hour from the stations Kassel Hauptbahnhof or Bahnhof Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and take about 20 minutes. It is roughly a 10-minute walk from the Guxhagen train station to the memorial. Buses also run between Kassel and Guxhagen.

Accessibility

Breitenau Memorial is working on improving accessibility. However, a large portion of the area is not accessible to people with walking disabilities. The memorial has the technical facilities to broadcast a guided tour live via zoom conference, inorder to allowgroup participants with walkingdisabilities to participate. is one of our medium-term goals to make the seminar rooms on the ground floor wheelchair accessible. The media stations on the ground floor and the second floor (German first floor) of the memorial are accessible to people with visual impairments. Audio guides, however, are not yet available.
