YOUNG PEOPLE remember on site
About the project
Young PEOPLE remembers on site is a funding line from the YOUNG PEOPLE remembers programme and is aimed at memorial sites and history initiatives at historical sites with a view to their new or further development and the practical application of innovative analogue, digital and audiovisual mediation formats for young people. The aim is to involve young people in the planning and implementation of remembrance cultural projects. The focus is on the critical confrontations with the National Socialist era, its crimes and its pre- and post-history. The funding programme is financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM).

What is all about?
Together we expand and develop digital content for the 360° tour. Feel free to take a look here: Breitenau Memorial VR Tour
Within six fixed workshops, we will jointly discover the site of today's memorial and develop ideas together on how the site can be digitally narrated.
In previous workshops, the young participants have already engaged with the people and life stories of those who were persecuted and humiliated in Breitenau during the Nazi era. Following a thematic approach, the first biography boards and scripts for practical implementation have already been created.
With support from the team at the Breitenau Memorial, communication designer Ilknur Koçer, and media educator Daniel Hellwig, the expert groups develop their own ideas on how they want to tell the stories of others for others. Whether through videos, audio recordings, photo galleries, documentary forms, or animated graphic novels – in terms of execution, creativity knows almost no bounds.
