Breitenau Memorial is located in the tithe barn of the former Benedictine monastery of Breitenau. The owner of the site is Vitos Kurhessen, a company of the Landeswohlfahrtsverband (LWV) Hessen. Vitos Kurhessen operates a facility for people with chronic mental illness on the site.

While we appreciate your interest in Breitenau Memorial, it is imperative that you obtain a film and/or photo permit from the corporate communications department of Vitos Kurhessen if you want to take photographs and or gather video footage on the site and in the historical prison area. This is out of respect for the current residents and other legal reasons.
